Rehoming

While welcoming a new puppy is a wonderful experience, there is something truly special about opening your heart and home to a mature dog. Rehoming a Vizsla gives a loving, loyal companion a well deserved second chance, often bypassing
the chewing and training stages of puppyhood.
Read on to see how offering a home to an older dog can bring true comfort and joy to a family.

My love for dogs started at a very young age when, to my Mother's horror, I kept bringing strays home to feed them.

I remember my first sighting of a Vizsla. It was on Country File. I had never seen one before and was instantly drawn to their vivid rust colour, dark amber eyes and their stature.I thought they were the most beautiful dogs I had ever seen.

I researched the breed to learn how intelligent, affectionate and sensitive they were. I was at a stage in my life were I had plenty of time to give lots of love and attention to one.

In 2014 we brought Rheba home. It was pure love at first sight. A year later her brother Quincy [same parents] joined us. They completed our family. They were my "babies".

When Quincy [10 years 4 moths] left us on February 2nd this year, we were totally heartbroken. Rheba was grieving for him, so a few weeks later Rubio our little minature Dachshund came to befriend her. Unfortunately 12 weeks later we also lost my very special girl Rheba [11yrs 8mths]. It was a great shock going from having 2 Vizslas to now none.

I have always said if I was ever lucky enough to find a Vizsla to rehome, then thats what I would do.

I used to volunteer in an pet rescue centre near me. Even though the animals were well cared for and exercised, they were missing a loving stable homelife.

We belong to NI Vizsla group and I had noticed on the Royal Uisneach website, 4 Viszlas needed rehomed.

My eyes were drawn to Kobe and I couldn't stop thinking of him. I contacted Deborah and arranged a visit.

Kobe came home with us that night. He has helped us cope with our grief. He is such a beautiful intelligent, quiet gentlemen. He has filled my days again. We go walking every day and he and Rubio love each other and are great friends.

We have bypassed all the puppy training and chewing to find a mature, loving boy who adores lying beside me on the settee every night and getting stroked. He has been the best thing that has happened to us since February and has fitted into our family so very well. I would encourage anyone to consider rehoming, especially Vizslas as they give 100% to their families with total love and devotion We hope we have many years with Kobe.

~ Kenny ~

Almost a year ago, we rescued Kenny from Deborah, and from the moment he came into our lives, everything changed.
He arrived needing love, patience, and a place to finally call home. Since then, he has filled our days with laughter, fun, endless love, and so many happy memories. We gave Kenny a home, but he gave us so much more in return - a heart full of love and a family that feels complete.

~ Cairo ~

We adopted Cairo after losing our precious Vizsla, Mackenzie, far too young. Our hearts were broken, and we weren’t looking to adopt another dog. We simply visited Deborah to donate some of Mackenzie’s toys and food, spend time with the Vizslas, and hopefully begin to heal.

That’s when we met Cairo. At just six months old, he sat quietly behind the fence, calmly watching the world go by. His little white patch on his back made him instantly recognisable, and there was something about him we couldn’t stop thinking about. On the drive home, my wife and I found ourselves talking about him the entire way. A few visits later, we knew he belonged with us.

From the very beginning, Cairo crept into our hearts, our home, and even our bed. With his trademark Vizsla cuddles, gentle nudges, and funny little Vizsla noises, it almost felt as though he was thanking us for giving him a chance.

Today he’s our adventure companion. He’s full of energy, loves the beach, swimming and chasing a ball, yet can also lie quietly beside us at a café, content just watching the world go by. He has the most wonderful nature and has become such a special part of our family.

We’ll always be grateful to Deborah for the incredible work she does giving these amazing dogs a second chance. We truly can’t imagine life without Cairo.
